Transgender Isis King, 28, from New York, took the fashion world by storm after appearing on
the popular television program. But the American Apparel model, who models for an array of big fashion brands, hopes to find a partner to share her success with. Most recently the model opened eyes as she stole the spotlight walking in the Betsey Johnson SS15 fashion show at New York Fashion Week.

She said: 'Being born in the wrong body has made it really hard because I want to tell men up front, but once I tell them they usually lose interest.'There are preconceived notions of trans women, and they don't want to know me once I tell them.'It's a bit harder for me because not only am I trans, but I am one of the world's most famous trans women.'

Isis, who grew into a slender 5ft 7in frame that would become perfect for the catwalk, knew that she was born in the wrong body from as early as she could remember.

She said: 'I wanted to do everything that girls did - play with hair, walk in heels, and play double dutch, but I would get disciplined for it.

'I learned to keep everything to myself and internalise it.'

After battling with the feeling throughout her childhood, she came out as gay in high school - but the label never felt right to her.
