The General Overseer of the church, Prophet T.B Joshua made this known through the church’s spokesperson, Kirsten Nematandani.
He stated, “The church has pleaded with the Nigerian government to expedite the repatriation process in order for families to bury the deceased with dignity and receive closure.”
“We have done a full audit of each family’s financial needs and assisted with various household expenses, as many of the deceased were breadwinners. The SCOAN church is donating a sum of 50,000 rand to each victim’s family for various expenses.”
Meanwhile, the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) has reportedly urged the Nigerian government to hasten the process of returning the remains of victims to their families for burial in South Africa.
Nematandani said, “The church has pleaded with the Nigerian government to expedite the repatriation process in order for families to bury the deceased with dignity and receive closure.”
In a related development, Prophet TB Joshua has been ordered by Lagos Coroner, Oyetade Komolafe, to attend and present his account of the building collapse tragedy at the on-going inquest proceedings on 5 November.
