The Nigerian Civil War had a profound impact on several marriages including that of Yepayeye. It came and ended with a myriad of challenges and bitter experiences. There were deaths and afflictions, losses and lacks. In the polygamous family of Chief Emmanuel Robert, the war visited with lots of strains. And in 1973, the marriage of Yepayeye and Emmanuel gave way…shattered! Thereafter her husband turned his handsome face away from Yepayeye’s children and never again sought nor enquired after their wellbeing.
