Jealousy: 5 Quick Fixes

Okay, so you’re sitting with friends minding your own business when all of a sudden, you think you saw something out of the corner of your eye, you get a sick feeling in your gut and jealousy slams you real hard on the back, sneaked up on you, you lost control, made a fool of yourself and you don’t know what to do. help yourself with these quick fixes.

1. GET A SENSE OF PERSPECTIVE

Jealousy makes us lose sight of reality, so create an emotional anchor that hooks you to the '3 Cs'- calm, Confidence, and Control. Think of a time when you experienced calm, then pick a word or image that reminds you of it. Next time you feel jealous, say the word or visualize the image to recreate the 3 Cs.

2. STOP COMPARING YOURSELF

If we feel someone has what we want, it can be a major source of jealousy. Escape the comparison trap by recognizing that it works both ways. Next time you are jealous, focus on someone who has less opportunity than you. This will make you feel grateful for what you have and less caught up with what you don't have.

3. REMIND YOURSELF YOU ARE UNIQUE

We all have special qualities and recognizing them will prevent you from the wicked torment of jealousy. For example, if you feel jealous of a colleague because they get all the praise, sweeddyy, don't let it eat you up. Instead, list your top 10 strengths and read it whenever you experience self doubt.

4. TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR THOUGHTS

According to research, we have at least 2,500 thoughts an hour and you are definitely in control of what they are. For instance, don't be automatically suspicious of your husband/wife, boyfriend/girlfriend's friendships. Instead, change your thought pattern and tell yourself he/she's with you because he/she wants to be, not because he has to be.

5. BE HAPPY FOR OTHERS

Does imagining your friend's engagement or salary increment make your stomach churn? Don't worry, many people react this way because we live in a very competitive world. but remember that happiness isn't limited and your time will come. Infact, the quickest route to happiness is wishing it for others-what you sow you must definitely reap.
