PHOTOS: BHS Shut Down!



Retail tycoon Sir Philip Green bought BHS for £200 million in 2000 but sold it last year for £1 to Retail Acquisitions, a little-known collection of financiers, lawyers and accountants with no retail experience.

Who would have thought that the British department store chain that has over 89 years of British retail history would finally come to a dramatic end? on my way to work this sunny morning, i saw the big 'CLOSING' sign all over the store. Curiosity got the best of me as i eventually summoned courage to take a peek. oh! it was completely empty! dunzo!!!!

i listened hard but only heard echoes in the empty trading floors. I silently wept and quickly said a heartfelt prayer on behalf of all the 11,000 dedicated workers that lost their jobs to bad management.

John Hannett, general secretary of the shop workers’ union said: “Wherever the blame lies for the demise of this once great British retailer, it certainly is not with the staff, who are paying a high price for corporate decisions that have led us to where we are today. See more photos below:
