Nigeria Drops Four Places In FIFA Ranking

The Super Eagles of Nigeria were the 38th best football playing team in the world in September but now sit on the 42nd spot in the October ranking released on Thursday morning by the World football governing body.

Nigeria's steady fall is not unconnected with the team's recent bad outings in the Africa Cup of Nations' qualifiers, losing 1-0 to Sudan in Khartoum after playing out a barren draw in South Africa earlier.

Consequently, the African Champions are now the ninth-ranked African side behind Algeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Tunisia, Ghana, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Egypt and Senegal.

Meanwhile, Germany, Argentina and Colombia hold the first, second and third spots

in the world respectively.
